1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Lunaire Labs Limited (“we”, “us”) is the data controller: a company registered in England and Wales, company no. 17137604, registered office 818 Whitchurch Lane, Whitchurch, Bristol, England, BS14 0JP (Companies House). Contact: .
This policy covers PositionPro, our window-position manager for Windows 10 and 11, sold in the Microsoft Store (Store ID 9PLFCF0JC2NJ), and visits to positionpro.uk.
The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply to what we do. For users in the European Economic Area, the EU GDPR applies as well. We have not appointed a representative in the EU, because the limited and occasional personal data we handle (Section 3) falls within the exemption in Article 27(2)(a) EU GDPR.
2. What PositionPro keeps on your PC
PositionPro keeps what it stores in its own folder in your Windows user profile (choose Open Config Folder from PositionPro’s tray menu to see it), apart from the two things under “Outside that folder” below. PositionPro never sends any of it to us or to anyone else, and we have no way to read it. That folder holds:
- Your saved layouts: for each program, its name and the path to the program file, and its window’s position, size, state (maximised or minimised), stacking order and when it was last seen — grouped into the profiles you create.
- Your settings: your preferences, exclude lists, keyboard shortcuts, start-up choices, theme, and which profile goes with which monitor layout (recorded as the screens’ sizes and positions). They also record when PositionPro was first started and how often it has asked you for a review, so that it asks no more than three times.
- A diagnostic log (
crash.log), written only if something goes wrong. It stays on your PC unless you choose to email it to us (Section 3). - An error log (
debug.log), written only if PositionPro cannot load or save its settings. It stays on your PC. - A start-up log (
startup.log): routine messages PositionPro writes as it starts and runs, including a note that you accepted the licence agreement. It stays on your PC. - A record that you accepted the licence agreement, so it is not shown again until you reinstall.
Program paths can include your Windows user name (for example C:\Users\name\…). None of it leaves your PC unless you choose to send it to us.
Outside that folder: if you switch on “Start with Windows”, Windows keeps a standard start-up entry holding only the command that starts PositionPro; turning the option off or uninstalling removes it. If you use Export Settings, a .ppro file with your layouts and settings is written wherever you choose, and stays there, under your control, until you delete it — uninstalling PositionPro does not remove it.
Deleting everything. Uninstall PositionPro (Windows Settings → Apps); Windows deletes its folder at the same time. If a %AppData%\PositionPro\ folder is still there afterwards (left by a copy of PositionPro that was not installed from the Microsoft Store), delete it yourself. Exported files stay until you delete them yourself.
3. What we hold about you
PositionPro sends us nothing and our website records nothing. We receive information in only two ways.
(a) If you email us
If you write to , we have your email address, whatever name your mail program sends with it, and your message. We use it only to reply to you, and we delete the conversation once your question has been answered — at the latest 30 days after our last reply, or sooner if you ask. We have no mailing list. Emailing us is entirely optional: you do not have to give us any personal data to use PositionPro.
- If you attach
crash.log, it shows the names of programs and window positions from your PC. We use it only to look into your problem, and it is deleted with the conversation. - Where it is held: our mailbox is provided by Nutty About Hosting Ltd, acting as our processor, on 20i Ltd’s mail platform, on servers in the United Kingdom. We read it in their webmail, and it is not copied or forwarded anywhere else.
- Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) where your message is about your purchase; otherwise Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in replying to you.
(b) Sales records from Microsoft
When you buy PositionPro, Microsoft handles the payment on our behalf and we never see it. Microsoft gives us daily sales figures: how many installs, trials and purchases there were, and for trials and purchases, the country and the price and tax. They contain no name, email address, street address, Microsoft account or card details, so they do not identify anyone and are not personal data.
We keep no copies of your Microsoft Store reviews. We read them where Microsoft publishes them.
4. What PositionPro connects to
PositionPro does not connect to the internet: it contains no code that does so, never checks for updates and sends nothing by itself. A few menu items, the links on the licence screen and the About tab, and the occasional request for a review open something outside the app, and only when you choose them:
- User Guide, and the Licence Agreement and Privacy Policy links, open positionpro.uk in your web browser.
- Check for Updates, Like PositionPro?, the About tab’s review and Microsoft Store links, and Leave a Review on the review request open the Microsoft Store. Buy PositionPro (after the free trial ends) opens Microsoft’s purchase window, or the Microsoft Store if that window cannot open.
- Got some feedback? opens a new email to us in your email program, with your PositionPro version in the subject. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
On the licence screen at first start, PositionPro asks Windows whether the PC has a network connection, so that I Agree becomes available once the agreement can be opened. This only reads the status Windows already holds; nothing is sent.
To know whether your free trial or purchase is active, PositionPro asks Windows when it starts and from time to time while it runs. Windows checks this against your Microsoft Store licence, and PositionPro itself sends nothing about you.
The Microsoft Store itself handles your purchase, the free trial, your licence and updates. Microsoft is an independent controller of the information it collects for these purposes, under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We are told nothing about that beyond the figures in Section 3(b).
PositionPro contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, social-media or tracking code of any kind.
5. Our website
positionpro.uk is purely informational. It has no accounts, forms or payments, and our own pages use no cookies, local storage, analytics or advertising of any kind.
We keep no record of your visit. Our web server (nginx) is set to access_log off for the site, so no IP address, page, time, referring page or browser is ever written down. Error messages for the site are discarded rather than saved, so no visitor details are written there either. Your IP address is held briefly in the server’s memory while a connection is open, so that the page can be delivered to you; it is not stored or used for anything else. The legal basis for this is Article 6(1)(f): our legitimate interest in operating the website.
Fonts, images and the official “Get it from Microsoft” badge are all served from our own domain, so viewing a page contacts no third party. Selecting the badge takes you to PositionPro’s page on the Microsoft Store website. That link carries a label naming the page it was on, so that Microsoft’s figures show which page a visit came from; it says nothing about you. From that point, the Microsoft Store is covered by the Microsoft Privacy Statement, and Microsoft tells us nothing that identifies you.
The website runs on a virtual private server provided by Hostinger International Ltd in Manchester, United Kingdom. Hostinger receives no visitor data from us; its own network protection, such as firewalls, is covered by its privacy policy.
6. Children
PositionPro is not directed at children and collects no personal data for us, so it carries out no age check. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email .
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable form, and not to be subject to decisions made solely by automated means (we make none). In practice, these rights apply only to your emails (Section 3(a)), which we delete once answered, or sooner on request. Microsoft’s sales figures identify no one (Section 3(b)), and what PositionPro stores never reaches us, so you control it directly on your PC (Section 2).

To make a request, email with “Data request” in the subject. We will reply within one month, as Article 12(3) requires.
8. Where your data is held
Nothing we hold leaves the United Kingdom. Our website server (Hostinger, Manchester) and our mailbox (20i, UK) are both in the UK. What PositionPro stores stays on your PC, wherever you are.
9. Security and breaches
What PositionPro stores is protected by your PC’s own security, such as your Windows sign-in and, if you use it, disk encryption. Please keep Windows up to date. We run no server holding app data. If an incident ever affects what we do hold (Section 3), we will assess it promptly and, where the law requires, tell you and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

In the EEA you can also complain to the supervisory authority where you live, where you work, or where an alleged breach happened (Article 77 EU GDPR). The European Data Protection Board lists them at edpb.europa.eu.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy. The current version is always at positionpro.uk/privacy, with the date of the last change at the top. We hold no contact details for PositionPro users, so we cannot tell you directly — please check this page from time to time.
